यस पुस्तकमा राधास्वामी सन्तपरम्पराका प्रथम सन्त सेठ शिवदयाल सिंहजीबाट सन्तहरूका शिक्षाका मूलभूत तत्वहरूलाई गद्यमा व्याख्या गरिएको छ । उहाँ ‘स्वामीजी महाराज’का नामबाट प्रसिद्ध हुनुहुन्थ्यो र उन्नाइसौँ शताब्दीमा भारतको आगरा नगरमा बस्नुहुन्थ्यो । सारवचनको शाब्दिक अर्थ ‘सत्य वचन’ हो र ‘वार्तिक’ को शाब्दिक अर्थ ‘व्याख्या’ हो । यसमा स्वामीजीका धेरै वर्षसम्मका सत्संग र वार्तालापहरूबाट समय समयमा लिइएका टिपोटमा आधारित छन् । स्वामीजी महाराज के सम्झाउनुहुन्छ भने उहाँको शिक्षा नयाँ पद्धति होइन, तर पनि पहिला हुनुभएका पूर्ण सन्तहरूद्वारा भनिएका आध्यात्मिक सिद्धान्त नै हुन् जुन पहिलेदेखि चलिआएका छन् । स्वामीजीले आन्तरिक आध्यात्मिक मण्डल तथा सृष्टिको रचनाको प्रक्रियालाई राम्ररी वर्णन गर्नु भएको छ। यसका अतिरिक्त उहाँका केही संक्षिप्त आध्यात्मिक वचनहरूका सङ्ग्रह पनि सैदान्तिक शृङ्खलाका रूपमा समावेश गरिएका छन् ।

Sar Bachan, literally meaning "words of truth," contains the fundamental teachings of the saints as explained by Seth Shiv Dayal Singh, known as Soami Ji Maharaj, the first Master in the Radha Soami line of mystics. The text is a translation of notes taken during Soami Ji's discourses and conversations over a period of many years. Soami Ji explains that this is not a new teaching, but the same mystic principles taught by all true saints throughout history. He gives details of the inner spiritual regions and the process of the creation. Also included is a collection of brief spiritual sayings by Soami Ji, presented as a series of axioms.
