Sant Dadu Dayal
 સંત દાદૂ દયાળસોળમી સદીમાં થઈ ગયેલા સંત દાદૂ દયાળ, અકબરના શાસનકાળ દરમ્યાન રાજસ્થાનમાં રહેતા હતા. જન્મથી તેઓ મુસલમાન હતા અને વ્યવસાયે પીંજારા હતા. તેમના નામ સાથે ‘દયાળ’ શબ્દ જોડવામાં આવે છે, કારણકે તેઓ, ભલે એમને કોઈ ગાળો આપે તેમ છતાં એ બધાની સાથે દયાદ્રષ્ટિનો ભાવ રાખતા અને પ્રેમપૂર્વક વ્યવહાર કરતા હતા. તેમનાં પદો આપણને ઉપદેશ આપે છે કે માનવ શરીર એ મુક્તિનું દ્વાર છે, પરંતુ આપણો અહં પ્રભુપ્રાપ્તિના માર્ગમાં બાધક બની રહે છે. એ આપણને સંદેશ આપે છે કે આપણા મનને ભજન-સ્મરણ દ્વારા અંકુશમાં રાખી શકાય છે; તથા ભજન-સ્મરણના આંતરિક અભ્યાસ માટેની ગુપ્ત રીત કોઈ પૂર્ણ ગુરુ પાસેથી જ જાણી શકાય છે. દાદૂ સાહેબની લાંબી કવિતાઓ વાંચવાથી આપણને ખબર પડે છે કે એમણે સુંદર ઉપમાઓના માધ્યમથી આપણું ધ્યાન આપણી સમસ્યાઓ તરફ કેન્દ્રિત કરીને જણાવ્યું છે કે આપણે સંસારમાં જરૂરિયાત કરતાં વધારે મેળવવામાં પરોવાયેલા છીએ અને મોત ઝડપથી આપણી સામે આવી રહ્યું છે. આવા વખતે માત્ર પ્રભુપ્રેમ જ આપણી સંભાળ રાખી શકે છે.Dadu, a sixteenth-century mystic who lived in Rajasthan during the reign of Akbar, the Mughal emperor, was a cotton carder by profession and Muslim by birth. He was called dayal, "the compassionate one," because he showed love and compassion to everyone, even to those who abused him. His poetry teaches that the human body is the door to salvation but that ego stands in the way of God-realization; that our mind can be controlled through meditation; and that only from a perfect Guru can we learn the secret of this inner meditation practice.
