ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದ  ಸಂತಮಹಾತ್ಮರು ಭಾಗ-1(ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ)

ಭಾರತದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಂತಮಹಾತ್ಮರಿದ್ದರು, ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಉಪದೇಶಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ಒಂದೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದವು. ಉತ್ತರ ಭಾರತದ ಸಂತ ಮಹಾತ್ಮರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ರಾ.ಸ.ಬಿ. ಬಹುದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ್ದು, ದಕ್ಷಿಣದ ಸಂತರ ಜೀವನ ಹಾಗೂ ಉಪದೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಇದೇ ಮೊದಲು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಭಾಷೆಯಾದ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದು ಹಾಡಿರುವ ಮೂವರು ಸಂತರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರಾದ ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರು ಮತ್ತು ಕನಕದಾಸರು 16ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಇವರು ಇಡೀ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಗಳು ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸಂಗೀತದ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗಗಳಾಗಿವೆ. ಮೂರನೆಯವರಾದ ಶಿಶುನಾಳ ಶರೀಫರು ಮೊದಲ ಇಬ್ಬರಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧರಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದಾಗ್ಯೂ, ಅವರ ಉಪದೇಶಗಳೂ ಸಹ ಬಹಳ ಅಳವಾಗಿವೆ. ಅವರ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪದ್ಯಗಳು ಕಬೀರರನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.

Mystics and saints have existed in every part of India, and their teachings are one and the same. While RSSB has published a large number of books on mystics who lived in the North, this is the first one to deal with the life and teachings of mystics in the South. It focuses on three of them who wrote and spoke in Kannada, the most prominent language of the state of Karnataka. Two of them, Purandara Dasa and Kanaka Dasa, lived in the sixteenth century, and are quite well known all over South India. Purandara Dasa's keertanas are very popular, and form an integral part of Carnatic music. The third, Shishunala Sharif, is not as well-known as the other two, but his teachings are nevertheless very profound. His background and poetry reminds one of Kabir.
