स्वर अनेक, गीत एक में बारहवीं से सत्रहवीं शताब्दी के दौरान भारत के महाराष्ट्र प्रांत में हुए कई संतों में से कुछ संत-महात्माओं के जीवन और उपदेश पर प्रकाश डाला गया है, जिन्होंने अंतर्मुख साधना के विश्वव्यापी मार्ग का उपदेश दिया है। इस अवधि के दौरान रचा गया विशाल संत-काव्य इन संतों की विनम्रता और गूढ़ आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान के साथ-साथ उस समय के लोगों के हृदय की सरलता और उनकी ग्रहणशीलता को भी दर्शाता है। दैनिक जीवन की कठिनाइयों के बावजूद आध्यात्मिक खोज के प्रति उनके समर्पण, उस समय प्रचलित धार्मिक प्रथाओं के विपरीत अलग मार्ग पर चलने के साहस और गूढ़ परम सत्य को जानने की उनकी तीव्र लालसा की झलक भी इसमें मिलती है।

This book opens a window onto the lives and teachings of some of the many mystics who lived in Maharashtra, India, between the twelfth and seventeenth centuries and taught the universal path of inner devotion. The abundance of mystic poetry that emerged in those centuries reflects not only the humility and profound spiritual understanding of the mystics but also the receptive minds and hearts of the people of their time – their commitment to seek beyond the hardships of daily living, their courage to choose an unconventional way beyond the ritual practices of the day, their passion to know a deeper and higher reality.
