Sant Namdev
 सन्त नामदेवभक्ति परंपरा के आरंभिक संतों में नामदेव जी एक ऐसे संत हैं, जिनके द्वारा रचित वाणी हमें उपलब्ध है। आप तेरहवीं शताब्दी में महाराष्ट्र में हुए और पेशे से दर्ज़ी और छीपा थे। अपने जीवन के आरंभ में आप हिंदुओं के कर्मकांड के दृढ़ अनयुायी थे और मूर्ति-पूजा किया करते थे, किंतु आख़िरकार आपका गुरु से मिलाप हो गया, जिन्होंने आपको समझाया कि प्रभु की सच्ची पूजा अपने अंतर में ही करनी चाहिए। नामदेव जी ने तीर्थयात्रा तथा कर्मकांड को व्यर्थ बताया है और शब्द की साधना का उपदेश दिया है। इस पुस्तक में पहले नामदेव जी के जीवन और उपदेश पर एक संक्षिप्त अध्याय है और फिर उनकी वाणी के कई पदों का अनुवाद है जिनमें गुरु की दया-मेहर और जीते-जी मरने के परम सुख का वर्णन है “मैंने जीते-जी मरना सीख लिया है, अब मुझे मरने का कोई डर नहीं।”One of the earliest saints in the bhakti (devotion) tradition whose writings are available to us, Namdev lived in thirteenth-century Maharashtra and was a tailor and calico printer. In his early life, Namdev observed Hindu rituals assiduously and worshipped idols, but eventually he met his Master, who taught him that the true worship must be practiced within oneself. Namdev taught the importance of meditation on Shabd and the uselessness of all rituals and pilgrimages. This volume presents a short section on his life and teachings, as well as translations of many of his poems that sing of the grace of the Master and the bliss of dying while living.
