ਸੰਤ ਸੁੰਦਰਦਾਸ

ਸੰਤ ਸੁੰਦਰਦਾਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਜੈਪੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿਚ ਦਾਦੂ ਦਿਆਲ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਬਣ ਗਏ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਫਤਿਹਪੁਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਅਧਿਆਤਮਿਕ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਦੇਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਸੰਤ ਸੁੰਦਰਦਾਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੈਂਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਹਨ। ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਰਚਨਾ 'ਸੁੰਦਰ ਗ੍ਰੰਥਵਾਲੀ' 'ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੈ।

ਸੰਤ ਸੁੰਦਰਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ 'ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੇਵਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਝੂਠਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਥਾਈਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼, ਦੇਹਧਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਭੇਦ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਲੈਣਾ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਹੈ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਨੁਮਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾਆਤਮਕ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

Born in Jaipur, Sundardas became a disciple of Dadu Dayal at a young age. Later he established his spiritual headquarters at Fatehpur in Rajasthan and gave initiation in Rajasthan and the Punjab.
Sant Sundardas wrote more than 35 books. The present book is based on his famous collection of poetry, Sundar Granthavali. Sant Sundardas emphasizes that the Lord is the only truth and that the world is false and transient. His poems speak of the importance and purpose of human life, the living master, and the mystery of the Nam or Word.  He emphatically says the refuge of the master is a gateway to liberation; under the master’s guidance, one should engage in devotion to Nam and attain spiritual awakening.
