ਸੂਰਦਾਸ: ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤੀ

ਸੂਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਪੰਦਰ੍ਹਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਅੰਦੋਲਨ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਮਹਾਨ ਸੰਤ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਗੋਸਵਾਮੀ ਤੁਲਸੀਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਧਿਆਤਮਿਕ ਸੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਨ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸਥਾਨਕ ਬੋਲੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਵਿ ਰਚਨਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੂਰਦਾਸ ਜਨ-ਸਧਾਰਣ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਫਲ ਹੋਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਾਨਵ ਜਾਤੀ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੋਤ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਧ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਚਾਹੇ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਵੀ ਬੁਰੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ, ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਯਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮ-ਅਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਚੱਕਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

Surdas was a great Saint of the ‘Bhakti’ movement during the 15th century. Goswami Tulsidas referred to Rama whereas Surdas chose Krishna as the medium for the expression of divine truth. However, the spiritual truth and divine meaning is common to Saints at all times and places. Using Braj bhasha, the local language, Surdas successfully reached the hearts of the populace. His life is an inspiring example for entire humanity proving that however trying the circumstances of life may be but with divine grace, help of a perfect Master and devoted individual effort any human being can attain union with God, gain eternal divine bliss and freedom from the unending cycle of life and death.
