इस पुस्तक में परमार्थ के वास्तविक स्वरूप और दर्शन तथा धर्म से इसकी भिन्नता पर चर्चा की गई है। इसमें सृष्टि के अनेक स्तरों की रचना का विस्तार से विश्लेषण किया गया है और साथ ही हिंदू, सिक्ख और मुस्लिम परंपराओं से जुड़ी अलग-अलग आध्यात्मिक विचारधाराओं और नैतिक नियमों का व्यापक विवरण प्रस्तुत किया गया है। संदर्भ के अनुसार संस्कृत, हिंदी, पंजाबी, फ़ारसी और अरबी भाषाओं में उपयुक्त उद्धरण भी दिए गए हैं। पुस्तक के अंतिम भाग में सुरत-शब्द-योग पर चर्चा के साथ-साथ इस अभ्यास की विधि को समझाने और शिष्य के आत्मिक सामर्थ्य को जाग्रत करने के लिए एक देहधारी संत अथवा सतगुरु की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया गया है।

The book discusses the true nature of mysticism and how it differs from philosophy and religion. It gives a detailed cosmology of the numerous levels of creation and a comprehensive account of different mystic schools and disciplines associated with the Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim traditions. Included are appropriate quotations in Sanskrit, Hindi, Persian, and Arabic languages. The book concludes with a discussion of Surat Shabd Yoga and the need for a living mystic or Master to impart this practice and awaken the disciple's spiritual potential.
